INTRODUCTION

The MDP on Health Program Management is designed and implemented by the joint efforts of PHFI and XLRI considering the dearth of trained healthcare professionals for effective and efficient health program management in the country. The aim of the program is to enhance the management skills of professionals in the field of public health and to equip them in utilizing various scientific and proven approaches in program planning and management .This will also provide the practical exposure needed to enhance the effectiveness of the professionals working with government, non-government and private institutions. This will be a 5 days residential management development program comprising of an interdisciplinary approach by blending theory and practical application in a problem-solving perspective.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • To provide an overview of health programs by public, private and not-for profit organizations (national and       international) in the country.
  • To orient the participants on the gaps and challenges in the management and implementation of international) in       the country.
  • To improve the skills of working professionals using evidence based curriculum which includes tools and techniques       to manage health programs efficiently to produce the desired health outcomes.
  • To develop competence and confidence of Program Managers for troubleshooting challenges in the field of health       management.

    METHODOLOGY

  • The program will have strong emphasis on adult learning methods – lectures, group work, case studies and       experience sharing.
  • EXPECTED PARTICIPANTS

  • Any graduate with minimum 5 years of experience in health program management or Post-graduate with       minimum 3 years of experience in health program management.
  • The participants should be key functionaries at government NGOs or public health sector undertakings.

  • Health Program Management from Project Cycle Management perspective
  • Health Program Planning – Concepts, Theories, Frameworks and Models
  • Project Management- Tools and Software
  • Fundamentals of Financial Management and Grant Management
  • Resource planning, mobilization and allocation (HR, Finance, Technology, Equipment, materials etc.)
  • Leadership and communication skills, team building & management, problem-solving, conflict resolution etc.
  • Program Evaluation- What is evaluation, Types of evaluation, Developing an effective evaluation plan
  • Reports and documentation as management requirement and for knowledge sharing

    SCHEDULE

  • 8:45 AM on the first day for registration
  • The program sessions begin at 9:00 AM on the first day and conclude at 5:00 PM on the last day
  • Accommodation for residential participants would be available from one day prior to the commencement of the       program.
  • Participants should make arrangement for their travel accordingly.
  • CONFIRMATION AND REGISTRATION

  • Nominations will be confirmed only after receipt of payment.
  • Confirmations will be given on a first-come ,first served basis.
  • The institutes reserve the right to refuse nominations.
  • CANCELLATION OF NOMINATIONS

  • Information about cancellation of nominations, if any should reach the MDP Office at least two weeks before the       commencement of the program.
  • Cancellations received after above mentioned deadline will entail a cancellation charge of 100% of the nomination       fee.
